Broomsticks

This is the most obvious mount in the game, considering how often they are used by wizards and witches in the books and films. Wizarding broomsticks are brooms that are enchanted to fly, enabling their wielders to travel through the air. These are commonly used for playing Quidditch, and although the developers of the game announced that Quidditch won’t be part of the game on launch, we can expect that it will be added on later since the game trailer features a Quidditch pitch. Since the game is set in the 1890s, we can assume that Harry Potter’s Nimbus 2000, Draco Malfoy’s Nimbus 2001, and the world-class Firebolt broom won’t be available to use.

Hippogriffs

The most popular magical beast in the Harry Potter universe is arguably the hippogriff. A magical beast with the front legs, wings, and head of a giant eagle and the body, hind legs, and tail of a horse, it is a proud, loyal, and protective creature that will be available as a mount at the launch of the game. The first appearance of a hippogriff was in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, where Harry Potter gained the trust of Buckbeak and even rescued him from execution with the help of Ron and Hermione. During a demo of the game, the Onyx Hippogriff mount was shown off. Hogwarts Legacy players who want to equip themselves with this mount can get it by pre-ordering the Deluxe or Collector’s Edition of Hogwarts Legacy.

Thestrals

This is one of the rarest mounts in the game since they are visible only to those who have witnessed death at least once. Thestrals are a breed of winged horse with a skeletal body, a face with reptilian features, and wide, leathery wings that resemble a bat’s. Commonly found in herds in forests, thestrals are loyal creatures that possess the ability to discern friend from foe. Thestrals first appeared in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, where Harry Potter, who had witnessed Cedric Diggory’s death earlier, noticed them for the first time. Players can add the Thestral mount to their collection by purchasing the Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition or Collector’s Edition. The mount comes as a part of the Dark Arts Pack, which also includes the Dark Arts Cosmetic Set, Dark Arts Battle Arena, and Dark Arts Garrison Hat. These are the only confirmed mounts in Hogwarts Legacy at this stage. However, it’s highly likely that the developers will add more mounts in the future, possibly depending on how well the game sells. One particular mount that we might see is a dragon. Although they feature in the game as antagonists, parts of the trailer suggest that they might become additional mounts, possibly upon completion of the game. Speaking of Hogwarts Legacy, you might want to check if your PC is up for it. The upcoming Harry Potter game has steep requirements that might discourage you from playing it on a less-updated PC.
