Season 3 is bringing 4 new weapons to Warzone, two of which are already available. Unfortunately, the funky jet-engine sledgehammer is not among them. Instead, players can now gun down opponent operators with the M1916 and the Nikita AVT - not that you should be using these, if reception is anything to go by. If we know anything about the gaming community, it’s that players are prone to hyperbole and exaggeration when they’re disappointed - that’s where you get the comments from about how these weapons are entirely worthless. Others have sought advice on how to cobble together a useful build with either new gun.
Most players agree that the M1916 and Nikita AVT are let downs, being far from capable of upsetting the current Warzone meta. The most popular weapons in the early stretches of Season 3 remain older favorites, such as the STG44 and even a weapon back from the Black Ops Cold War era, the AK-47. Warzone is dealing with way more problems than a pair of lackluster guns, though - Activision blamed the recent financial slump of the Call of Duty franchise on Vanguard’s poor reception and Warzone’s rapid loss of players. Additionally, despite the recent full launch of Ricochet anti-cheat, the game is still grappling with hackers.
Season 3 is also bringing a high profile crossover with Godzilla and King Kong to Warzone, as well a sweeping changes to Caldera. These other additions hopefully foster a more positive response, but it doesn’t come as a huge surprise that the game is getting less quality content - Warzone 2 is on the horizon, coming from fan favorite developer Infinity Ward soon after they release Modern Warfare 2. As Warzone in its current form is slowly sunsetting, the game is being loaded to the brim with easter eggs about its immediate future.
