Earlier this month, we found out that Netflix will be saying goodbye to its lineup of Marvel shows come March 1. Since then, fans have wondered where the uncharacteristically violent shows will land. Many believed that Disney’s flagship streaming service, Disney Plus, was out of the question as Disney is so adamant about keeping a child-friendly image. So, you can only imagine the shock on people’s faces when Disney confirmed that the former Netflix titles will be headed to Disney+ starting on March 16. However, the migration path of Netflix’s Marvel shows isn’t as straightforward - they’ll only be available in Canada, for now. Netflix first partnered with Marvel Studios back in 2015 with the launch of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. After the success of both shows, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher all followed suit. All five shows culminated with the premiere of The Defenders, a titular supergroup of vigilantes featuring each of the leading protagonists from the standalone shows banding together. Despite the lineup’s success on Netflix, each show’s future was immediately put in doubt after Disney started plotting its line of TV shows. For years, fans have been counting the days when Netflix’s Marvel shows will leave for whichever platforms Disney prefers. Having said that, it appears that the Netflix original shows are still part of the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Charlie Cox’s involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Matt Murdock and Daredevil was one of the most pleasant surprises of the film that recently beat 2010’s Avatar at the local box office. Meanwhile, the iconic Daredevil villain, Kingpin, which was portrayed by Vincent D’Onofrio, showed up in Hawkeye as one of its antagonists. It remains to be seen if Daredevil and the other Marvel Netflix shows will be on Disney+ permanently in the United States and the United Kingdom. If this is the case, then Disney will have to tone down the sexual and violent scenes portrayed in Netflix’s lineup of Marvel shows, which could negatively impact the quality of their content. At the very least, fans now have news about where Daredevil and the others will be found after they leave Netflix. We should hear more about the new streaming home for the Marvel Netflix shows within the next few weeks.
