According to a March 17 listing by industry magazine, Production Weekly, Disney is working on a new Daredevil show, Daredevil Reboot. Interestingly enough, the same listing featuring shows and movies about to enter production also includes a handful of movies that’s been the hot topic lately: Deadpool 3, Madame Web, and Kraven the Hunter. The report comes on the heels of rumors that Disney is working on the fourth season of Daredevil. Although the word “reboot” might suggest that Charlie Cox’s return to the small screen as the masked vigilante would follow a different story, Cox’s recent interview at the 2022 Middle East Film and Comic-Con “confirmed” that Season 4 of Daredevil is not a complete remake but more along the lines of a soft reboot.

The iconic comic book run saw Daredevil lose his mind after Kingpin finds out about his secret identity. The introduction of both Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye, respectively, all but guarantees that the two arch-enemies will meet in the MCU. It’s all a matter of when and not if, at this point, and a storyline based on Born Again would fit into the narrative of building a new life following what we presume is him finding himself in a new universe. As a fan-favorite, Cox’s return is a blessing for the MCU. Unfortunately, because of how attached fans already are to the previous three seasons as well as Netflix’s Marvel shows, in general, Marvel Studios finds itself in an unenviable position. Disney has already invested a lot into making future seasons of Daredevil possible without having to deal with censorship, a move that hasn’t exactly sat well with certain people. Disney will want to put itself in the best position to take advantage of this opportunity, but throwing away everything that Netflix built probably won’t sit too well with fans. Disney might have no choice but to put itself through the paces and make the narrative fit within the confines of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The good news here is that Marvel Studios are experts at this stuff - if the studio can successfully fit three generations of Spider-Man in the record-setting No Way Home and the Illuminati in the Doctor Strange sequel, then making the Defenders Saga (this is what Disney is calling Netflix’s Marvel TV shows) should be possible. For now, Marvel fans can look forward to Moon Knight dropping on Disney+ on March 30, Wednesday. Also, in addition to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder is set to premiere on July 8, although fans are worried that Marvel Studios might delay Chris Hemsworth’s fourth solo MCU outing following reports of reshoots earlier this month.
