More than a year after the PS5 was launched, Sony is finally addressing this issue with the latest PS5 beta update.

According to the official blog post, the latest beta update for the PlayStation consoles will make it easier for owners to tell which version of a game they have installed. On the PS5 dashboard, you’ll be able to see both versions of each cross-gen game with clear indicators. This will make it easier for PS5 owners to choose the ideal gameplay experience. The update will save PS5 owners a lot of trouble as they no longer have to worry about downloading the wrong version of a cross-gen game. In addition to several improvements with the PlayStation 5 and cross-gen titles, the latest beta update also adds SSD expansion support. PS4 and PS5 owners will always get to see five awards via the Trophy Tracker now with the Control Center coming with the option to hide unnecessary settings. The Game Base also gets a friends list that shows pending requests as well as a user’s online status. Finally, the next PlayStation system update will give PS4 and PS5 users a choice to create an open or closed party. The former lets other friends of the party’s host see and join as they please while the latter means that users need an invite first. As a bonus, Sony is giving PlayStation Now owners the option to choose between playing games in 720p or 1080p. After being announced on Tuesday, all of these new features will be available for those who opt into the beta test starting on Wednesday. Sony hasn’t confirmed when these features will make their way to the public versions of the software for the PS4 and PS5. In other Sony news, Guerilla just released footage of Horizon Forbidden West running on the PS4 ahead of its February 18 launch. Also, if you’re interested to know when you can pre-order the PSVR 2, the official PSVR 2 website is now up.
