While Michael Jordan’s live-action/animated sports comedy film that was released in 1996 was a huge success, even pulling in $250 million in the box office against an $80 million budget, most people probably don’t remember the video game tie-in to the movie that released for Sony PlayStation and SEGA Saturn around the same time the movie did. The Space Jam video game sold poorly and was met largely with negative reviews. Yet, despite that, a new Space Jam movie tie-in game is apparently in the works.
Space Jam: A New Legacy Is the Most Unlikely Xbox Game Pass Title
Forget about being an unlikely Xbox Game Pass title, the new Space Jam: A New Legacy is the most surprising video game to release in recent memory. The idea for Space Jam: A New Legacy - The Game comes from Microsoft after asking fans to submit their ideas for the game back in December 2020. According to Microsoft, the game, which will be developed by Digital Eclipse, will implement ideas submitted by fans. Considering the failure that was the first Space Jam movie tie-in game, it’s surprising that this is in the works. Then again, who knows? It might end up blowing everyone’s expectations out of the water and become one of the best video game adaptations of all time. With that said, gamers won’t have to wait too long to find out if Space Jam: A New Legacy - The Game is good or not. The new Space Jam game is expected to release on July 15, 2021, just a day before Space Jam: A New Legacy premieres. The game will also be available on the Xbox Game Pass on the first day. Speaking of Space Jam: A New Legacy, a fully-animated crossover sequel with Teen Titans Go! is scheduled to air on June 20, 2021.
