Remedy confirms that 505 Games has agreed to come back and publish Control 2. The two companies originally worked together on the development of Control, which first came out in 2019 for the PS4 and PS5 before getting a next-gen upgrade two years later. It’s unclear if the Control sequel will be exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X but we can presume that this is the case. Either way, this new development is good news for Control fans waiting for more news on the ever-expanding Remedy Connected Universe. Here’s what 505 Games Co-CEOs, Rami and Raffi Galante, said in the official statement: It’s confirmed that Control 2 will have a development budget of €50 million. The most surprising part is Remedy will use its own Northlight Engine for the game, eschewing the trend of studios using Unreal Engine 5 as opposed to proprietary engines. As Control 2 is currently still in its concept stage, we shouldn’t expect it to come out until much later this decade. Control is the biggest investment 505 Games has ever made, so it has a special place in our hearts. We are grateful to the whole player community that has made Control such a long-lasting and loved game, and are even more excited to bring out Control 2. Remedy Entertainment is booked full of noteworthy projects for the upcoming decade. Although a sequel to Control was pretty much guaranteed already, Remedy’s other projects are quite surprising. First up is a multiplayer spin-off set in the same universe, Condor. Meanwhile, Remedy is also working on an Alan Wake sequel. Finally, Remedy has partnered with Rockstar Games to remake Max Payne 1 and 2 for the PS5 and the Xbox Series S/X. As a bonus, there are rumors that Remedy is working on a Doctor Strange game. After proving itself with iconic titles over the years, Remedy more than deserves the benefit of the doubt. But, we’re hoping that Remedy hasn’t spread itself too thin.
