On your journey in Gates of Oblivion you will explore an unprecedented story that will span all the content released for ESO in 2021, such as the upcoming DLC The Elder Scrolls Online: Flames of Ambition and then the Blackwood expansion. The idea is to discover the plans and schemes of Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon about 800 years before the events seen in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood Expansion Overview

Blackwood promises more than 30 hours of gameplay with new content. It will introduce a new 12 player Trial, a new companion system, new dungeons, solitary quests, and world bosses, along with several improvements in the overall quality of the experience. You can also explore a new area of Tamriel, one where the culture of the Argonians clashes head-on with the ambitions of the Imperial. Below you can see the presentation trailer and a party smacking The Mythic Dawn:

New Content for The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood

So far, the Companions are one of the most interesting additions. You will be able to recruit an NPC ally to travel and fight alongside you, each companion having their own history and personality. They can follow you in almost every mission, and their skills rise level in the process. You will be able to customize your companion as you see fit to complement your build. The only place you can’t take them is PvP - this is because it wouldn’t be player vs player if a non-player character could participate! The Blackwood region is under Daedric influence and its people struggle to survive. It includes the Imperial City of Leyawiin (originally shown in Oblivion), the Niben Forest, and even the Blackwood swamps. This will be Gates of Oblivion’s greatest narrative. There’s also a new trial called Rockgrove in which you need to retake the village of the same name in a 12-player party. Additionally, the new world events, the Oblivion Portals, take you to a quest where you must destroy mysterious Daedric constructs before they destroy Tamriel. There’s also new loot for everyone, the Lost Relics of Blackwood, six new powerful gear sets, dark collectibles and more. Turning to the plot of the Blackwood expansion, players will be called to investigate a conspiracy involving the Longhouse Emperors in exile. Behind all this, as you can imagine, is the prince of destruction Mehrunes Dagon, but his exact plans still remain surrounded by mystery. You can only discover what he has is planning by jumping into the Prince’s den. If you pre-order the expansion, you bring home the new Nightmare Bear Cub pet and the new Nagahide Welwa Ravager mount, which will only be available for rescue until March 17, 2021. Other gifts include the Dremora Kynreeve outfit, the Deadlands Wamasu pet, 1 x Iron Atronach Crate, 3 x Blackwood Treasure Maps, and 2 x Experience Scrolls. In case you’re throwing money at the fan and want to buy a Collector’s Edition, you get some fancy extra items such as the Battlefield Nightmare Senche mount, the Jewel-Feathered Sep Adder pet, one Temporal Grimoire memento, a Deadlands Gladiator Outfit Style, and a brand new emote, Offer Weapon.
