Unfortunately, Activision’s vision didn’t include safekeeping sensitive information. Case in point, a data miner recently got his hands on maps and images for Modern Warfare 2 and 2024’s Call of Duty. Now, multiple sources claim that the long-rumored DMZ mode is not going to be a separate free-to-play game. Instead, it will be a part of Modern Warfare 2 once it comes out later this year. A dataminer provided screenshots of the DMZ mode for Modern Warfare 2 along with objectives. The said objectives like “Search the marked areas for radioactivity” and “defend the charge until detonation”, among others, give players a good idea of what to expect from the incoming game mode for Modern Warfare 2. In addition to this, Tom Henderson corroborates claims that DMZ mode will be a part of Modern Warfare 2.
— Reality (@r3al1tyuk) July 3, 2022 One takeaway from all of these leaks is that the development is going well. Otherwise, we would have heard rumblings of a potential delay. If nothing else, we should expect Modern Warfare 2 to come out on October 28 as is originally planned with Warzone 2 coming soon after. Speaking of progress, another insider claims to know when the open beta dates for Modern Warfare 2 will start. If we believe these talks, Activision and Infinity Ward are confident to hold the beta dates so close to the actual launch.
