The official theatrical release of the latest Tom Holland Spider-Man film is drawing ever closer and rumors keep swirling about the appearance of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. With the stars now in full promotion mode, more new details surface about the plot and the characters. Check out what’s new from the recently concluded convention.

CCXP Villains Panel

Comic Con Experience is a Brazilian pop culture convention which has its roots in the famous San Diego Comic-Con. This year’s CCXP ran from December 5 to 6 and had a special Villains Panel dedicated to spotlighting three of the main antagonists in the upcoming Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures collaboration. The panel began with Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor himself, Tom Holland, introducing the three CCXP guests: Willem Dafoe (Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin), Alfred Molina (Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus), and Jamie Foxx (Max Dillon/Electro).

— CCXP (@CCXPoficial) December 5, 2021 The three actors gamely discussed their feelings about returning to their roles. Molina, in particular, had misgivings about returning to the Doc Ock character after 17 years. This was mostly due to his age and how different he looked in 2004 as well as handling the practical effects, such as the metal arms. Says Molina: But the actor’s concerns were put to rest with the advancement of CGI shown to him, including de-aging. Jamie Foxx also shared his relief of not being required to reprise his blue-skinned look in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014). Meanwhile, Willem Dafoe expressed his take on Norman Osborn aka The Green Goblin. The actor promised this is not the exact same character from the first Spider-Man film. However, Dafoe stopped short of giving any further details beyond that vague description.

Green Goblin drops the mask

In relation to Dafoe’s teasing of a slightly different approach to the character, part of the footage shown in the CCXP Villains Panel had a key revelation. From earlier reveals through leaks and trailers, it appeared that the Green Goblin (played by Willem Dafoe) will be appearing in the first costume from Spider-Man (2002). However, there are blink-and-you’ll-miss-it parts in the trailers that show a slightly modified look. Now, the footage has shown that Green Goblin will indeed be dropping the old mask and display Dafoe’s Norman Osborn face prominently. A hoodie is included in the look, which is reminiscent of the Hobgoblin, a separate super-villain that has more of a supernatural origin than the Green Goblin. It should be noted that in the comics, the Hobgoblin was suspected to be Ned Leeds. There is an ongoing rumor that the MCU Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) may become the Hobgoblin at some point. You can see the Green Goblin’s new look in the picture below:

Willem Dafoe scared Tom Holland

Tom Holland himself shared a funny anecdote of meeting Dafoe and his hooded Green Goblin for the first time: Sony Pictures has also released the updated official synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home: With less than 2 weeks left, can the production maintain its secrecy and avoid spoilers from popping up further? Given how immense the anticipation of the fandom is, reportedly eclipsing even Avengers: Endgame, we will continue to keep an eye out for any new developments and breaking news. Directed by Jon Watts and based on the Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: No Way Home will be swinging into theaters December 17, 2021.
