While Vince McMahon did not build WWE from the ground up, he is responsible for turning it into a global phenomenon since taking over in 1982. Over the years, the WWE has struck multiple billion-dollar TV deals and become a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. As part of these changes, Vince McMahon’s son-in-law, WWE legend Triple H, will reportedly take over creative duties just after becoming the company’s new head of talent relations. Controversial circumstances aside, fans are already excited to see what Paul Levesque will come up with now that he’s the creative head of the WWE. The 14-time world champion is a legend inside and outside the ring. The Game, as he is sometimes referred to, is widely credited for the black-and-gold era of NXT before the NXT 2.0 rebrand last year. Despite a long and storied career as a wrestler, Triple H has taken on a more executive role in recent years. He is effectively retired as a competitor after suffering a “cardiac event”, which also affected his ability to perform executive duties. Now that Triple H is back to working in the WWE full-time, the wrestler-turned-executive will have more responsibility than he’s ever had. It’s unclear how much the WWE will change in the immediate future. Most likely, the WWE will tread its next steps carefully. WWE has to cater to both fans and its shareholders as it is a publicly traded company. The organization will likely defer to Vince McMahon’s plans in the next few months before the new management fully takes over. But, according to sources, there is a “general excitement” among talents now that Triple H is taking over the creative direction of the company. After years of complaining about where the WWE was headed, fans are finally getting what they wanted. If the WWE can pivot to a more “mature” rating in the future, we wouldn’t put it past Triple H and the rest of the company’s next executives to bring forth a second coming of the Attitude Era.
